Ah, we glorious peasants!

Having been unable to think of anything particularly intelligent to post in the past few weeks I seem to have run into a writers block. However, I have subsequently realised that since it is my blog I can write whatever I want and intelligence and terse prose isn't a prerequisite for spewing out shit on the internet. So... glueboot continues.

In a class last term I found myself strangely defending Hegel from the attacks of various people who's main interest is around more recent French thought ("But they don't read the texts! They only come to Hegel through Kojeve and Hippolyte!"). Shockingly enough I was equated with a prominent Hegelian to which I blushed profusely and mumbled something rude. I now feel uncomfortable being seen without a tome from some thinker such as Bataille or Deleuze in order to reinstate the distance between myself and Hegel. However, the tension between Hegel and Deleuze is something I am interested in and do think there is more depth to it than many people think (Deleuzean: "I refuse to read Hegel, he's a fucker!"). Hence I was pleased to come across a post by Smokewriting who is writing a book on it and will hopefully be making more posts on the matter. This happily means that I don't have to worry about it so much any more and can continue with my more pressing projects.

Thinking about philosophical fuckers, I was reading Heidegger's "Building, Dwelling, Thinking" a few days ago and could barely contain my urge to throw it across the room in a fit of rage. There is something incredibly prayer-like about the text, especially in the four paragraphs where he describes 'The Fourfold,' each paragraph ending with the same line. Perhaps it would be more aptly titled "Ode to the German Peasant: He who's blood enriches our Great Nation's soil." Anyway, I'm reading Marty for my current project (Kant and Hegel being pushed aside for the moment) in which I'm looking (tenuously) at temporality in Heidegger and Levinas... although may be narrowed to 'The Dwelling' or Death or something else that I decide next week about the time I usually change my mind. Unfortunately this means that for the next few months I will be entrapped in a process of becoming-Heidegger,becoming-Levinas which will probably turn me into National Socialist woman hater with a penchant for lederhosen. At least when I'm done I can go back to my normal self, likely seen about the grounds of Warwick shouting "Heidegger's a cunt."
