Film stuff

I watched Bertolucci's 'The Dreamers' this weekend and I really loved it. It's been a while since I've really enjoyed a film so it's nice to be able to post about one that I have. Firstly I thought the acting was wonderful, Matthew was aptly innocent, Isabelle was dazzling and Theo had a smouldering broodiness that is often lost in actors. I initially wanted to see it because it was about Paris 1968 although that really only provides a backdrop for the film. What was interesting was that while Paris was exploding the three characters were trapped in their own bubble of films and sex. And while Matthew wants Isabelle and Theo to change and grow, to become people in themselves, they are too wrapped up in the bond that they have to ever become something else. It's sad that while we know Matthew will move on that the other two will always remain the same. Anyway, I won't say anything else about it incase anyone hasn't seen it. It's made me want to get hold of more Bertolucci films.

Other film news... Troy looks like its going to be shite. It's not surprising really, Hollywood has a way of destroying books and messing with history. I'll see it anyway and I'm sure I'll have a long post filled with anger.

Also Steve Martin is remaking 'The Pink Pather' with Beyonce. Big mistake. Peter Sellers is Inspector Clouseau and no one else can ever be. And why Beyonce? Did no one else notice that she was shit in Austin Powers?
